In this experiment we will make biodegradable plastic by using starch, glycerin, water and vinegar, studying the influence of each ingredient on the properties of plastic.
First we used 60 ml water, 9,5g starch, 4 ml vinegar and we varied the quantity of glycerin: 0 ml, 2ml and 4ml glycerin.
We mixed the ingredients, heating them lightly and shaking them for 10 minutes from the moment of boiling point. We spread the mixture on an aluminum sheet.
Using small quantities of glycerin we obtained plastic that breaks.
We decided to change the quantities, to make the mixture more fluid. We increased the quantity of water and the quantity of glycerin to 5ml, 6ml, 7 ml. The results were much more favorable, noticing the effect of glycerin on plastic, according to the quantity we used.
